SALTA

If you were enchanted by Buenos Aires, just wait till you get to Salta! First of all, you have the colonial architecture, with the cathedral, central square, many smaller churches and of course its laid back atmosphere. Salta compares favourably with many of the other destinations to be found in Argentina for the excellent value offered. The region in general reflects this, hence an excellent option, maintaining Salta as your base.

Highlights

• City Architecture
• The Awesome Scenery around San Antonio de los Cobres
• The railway lines of the train to the clouds
• The road trip to Cachi and Cafayate

Getting Sorted
Taxis are inexpensive in the city, so arriving with all those bags won’t cause too much hassle. Most points in the centre can be reached easily. When you are walking around in the centre it is worthwhile to remember that if you are passing east to west or vice versa, the street name will change when you get to Caseros street. The city centre is not very big, so it is possible to walk to most places. However, the greatest sights are spread throughout the region itself.
